Hi. I’m Roddy. I’m a photographer currently based in Boulder, CO ☀️. Things I like: spontaneous camping trips, things made by hand, books without too many words, and trains. I’m a kid at heart and that will never change.
My job is to take notice. I’m on the lookout for the simple beauty all around us, preserving the subtle and not-so-subtle moments that tell the stories of the best days of our lives. My efforts to do this through documentary film have been featured in The New Yorker, The Atlantic, Fast Company, and more. More recently, still photography has become my preferred means of telling visual stories for others.
Today I’m working primarily with couples and families to document life’s most meaningful moments. Weddings, elopements, families, special events, and select branded projects are my focus. I’d love for one of these collaborations to be with you. And to those you who have already let me into your lives to share your stories, thank you.

In case you’re wondering…
Do you travel for projects?
Certainly. I’m based in Colorado and also spend time in my home state of Michigan. I’m quite familiar with New York City, too, having lived there for 7 years. Ultimately, I will travel wherever there are meaningful images to be made.
How much do you charge?
I want to make working together accessible. I’d be happy to share initial pricing if you reach out via contact form or email with some info about yourself and your intentions for photography. We can setup a time to chat, talk details, and hone in the collaboration.
Why should we choose you to shoot our wedding?
I bring strong visual instincts, a calm demeanor, and am a crystal clear communicator. My goal is for you to focus on yours and nothing else. Let’s talk if you want to have a stress-free wedding day and not be thinking about photography until the highlights land in your inbox.
How do you approach family sessions?
My not-so-secret secret: People are people, not subjects. I prefer to plan quality time and spend it together. I’m with you through the in-betweens and ups and downs, the giggles and the boo-boos. My focus is to preserve the beauty in the everyday.
Can you make us a video too?
At the moment my focus is on photography and I’m not taking on new video assignments. Depending on what you’re looking for, though, I can likely recommend someone that can make a video for you. (I co-founded a video agency in Brooklyn, now called None Other, check it out)
What’s your photographic style?
I generally work in a photojournalistic style, aiming to create imagery that feels raw, heartfelt, and immediate. In post-processing I strive for a timeless look with nostalgic 35mm film undertones.
